10 Ways to Beat the Heat this Summer in El Dorado County

1.) Lake Tahoe: Visit one of the many beaches on either North Lake or South Lake Tahoe. Each side is aproximately 2 hours from Sacramento, perfect for a weekend away or just a day trip! 2.) Urban Yogurt: Beat the heat with a sweet treat from Urban Yogurt in Shingle Springs! 4.) Rafting in Coloma: The South Fork of the American River offers exciting whitewater rapids through Labor Day.  It’s wild and fun for all ages! There are quite a few commercial whitewater rafting outfitters that offer a wide variety of river experiences. Come stay at a bed and breakfast, camp, enjoy wine and good food, and much much more! So rich in history here. Make this a “Must-Do” this summer!

5.) Regal Movie Theater in El Dorado Hills: Enjoy a great movie, refreshments, and a nice air conditioned building this summer at the Regal Movie Theatre in EDH! 6.) Sly Park (Jenkinson Lake): Beat the heat and head up to Sly Park Lake in Pollock Pines! You can hang at the lake, day hike around the lake, or even camp! So many activities can be found for everyone. Fishing is also fun to do up at Jenkinson Lake! Make this part of your “must-do’s” this summer.

7.) River Park in Lotus: Come hang out at Henningsen-Lotus Park, enjoy wading on the shore, or floating in the river. You can also watch the rafters float by. You can also enjoy the park there! This fun, cool, summer hangout is located at 950 Lotus Road, in Lotus CA. 

8.) Gold Bug Park and Mine: Explore the Gold Bug and the mining museum this summer! You can pan for gems, visit the stamp mill and blacksmith shop, and even hike around the grounds! 9.) Marshall Splash Zone at the El Dorado Hills Community Pool: Come and stay cool at the El Dorado Hills Community Pool (1021 Harvard Way, El Dorado Hills). They have a super fun splash zone,  free wifi, snack bar, zero entry beach area and much more! Ages 2 and under are free, $5 from ages 2-54, and $55+ is $3. 10.) Zia’s Italian Coffee and Gelato Bar: Can you say, YUM?! Stay cool this summer with some Gelato, Sorbetto, or an Iced coffee. Zia’s also has delicious desserts and lunch. Zia’s is located in EDH Town Center (4364 Town Center Blvd) and is open from 7am-9pm Sunday-Thursday and 7am-10pm Friday-Saturday.
